Go Wild at the Wild Cycle
Go wild and take part in Wild Futures’ Wild Cycle on 6th April 2014! A 35-mile mixed terrain bike ride of across Cornwall’s stunning Bodmin moor and surrounding countryside!
The Wild Cycle route is challenging and enjoyable and incorporates everything from forests, moorland, country roads, fords and lots more! Participants will be rewarded with fantastic scenery, an abundance of wildlife and a great sense of achievement when crossing the finish line!
Registration for Wild Cycle costs just £20 and all participants will receive a t-shirt, medal and goody bag at the finish line. Wild Futures then hopes that participants will raise some sponsorship on top to enable the charity to rescue more monkeys in need.
Wild Futures is the leading primate welfare charity in the UK, which is this year celebrating 50 years of its Sanctuary based near Looe, Cornwall. The Monkey Sanctuary is the charity’s current largest project and is a rescue and rehabilitation centre for ex-pet monkeys. Many of the monkeys that have been rescued by Wild Futures suffer from severe physical and abnormal behavioural issues such as diabetes and self-harming, following their time kept as pets.
Chris Bonner, of Redruth who participated last year said: “It’s a great event and a challenge. I’m there again this year!”
Zoe Porrington of Wild Futures states: “The Wild Cycle is an essential fundraising event with the aim to raise funds for our vital work, protecting primates and habitats worldwide. We are looking forward to seeing all the participants this year and seeing them cross the finish line! Without their help we would not be able to continue in our work.”
