Get on your bike and take part in Wild Futures Wild Cycle
After the success of last year’s event Wild Futures, the charity that runs The Monkey Sanctuary in Looe, has brought back Wild Cycle. Wild Cycle is a 35 mile mixed terrain cycle ride across Bodmin Moor and will take place this year on Sunday April 6th.
Starting and finishing at the Colliford Tavern at the CollifordLake, the route will take participants across some of Cornwall’s most spectacular countryside. The event is a great challenge and cyclists will be rewarded with fantastic scenery, an abundance of wildlife and a great sense of achievement when they cross the finishing line!
Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary currently cares for 37 monkeys and has cared for more than 160 over the past 50 years. All of the rescued monkeys suffer with physical or abnormal behavioral problems following their time kept as pets and require continuous specialist care.
Registration for Wild Cycle costs just £20 and all participants will receive a unique cycling t-shirt, medal and spectacular goody bag at the finish line. Wild Futures then hopes that participants will raise some sponsorship on top to enable the charity to rescue more monkeys in need.
Hayley Dann, Wild Futures states: “Wild Cycle was a great success last year, with more than 100 people taking part. As we are celebrating our 50th anniversary this year we hope that more people will sign up and join us. The event is for all levels – beginners to experienced and participants will get a real sense of achievement upon completing the event. With five fords to cross and many more interesting natural obstacles – the event makes a real fun challenge. We receive calls regularly to rescue monkeys in need and without events such as Wild Cycle we would not be able to carry out our vital work.”
Participants can register online at www.wildfutures.org/wildcycle or by by calling the Wild Futures fundraising office on 0844 272 1271.
