Radio Plymouth Adopts Oliver the Woolly Monkey at Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary.

Radio Plymouth has joined Wild Futures’ troop and adopted the Woolly monkey, Oliver, at The Monkey Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary is the flagship project of leading primate welfare charity, Wild Futures.  It rescues monkeys from the primate pet trade – a trade that has escalated over recent years.  It carries out much needed rescue and rehabilitation work with monkeys, many who are damaged either physically or psychologically due to their time kept as pets.  It offers a home for life to all the monkeys that reside there.

Oliver is nine years old and lives in a group with four other woolly monkeys. Oliver is an adventurous and independent character and always the first to investigate when something new is put into the woolly monkeys’ enclosures.

Radio Plymouth chose Oliver to be their adoptive monkey because they thought he was so adorable.

Tricia Duff from Radio Plymouth said: ”We are proud to be supporting Wild Futures and all of the amazing work that they do. Helping to give the monkeys a better life is so important, to be in the company of their own kind and the space they need to grow; it’s a great charity for us to be involved with.  The corporate adoption scheme is a great mutually beneficial partnership and I feel that as the only commercial radio station in Plymouth, Radio Plymouth will be able to help Wild Futures raise awareness of its work with a great audience.”

Zoe Porrington from Wild Futures states: ”We are really pleased to have to have Radio Plymouth on board with our corporate adoption scheme as it’s an amazing way for companies to get involved with our charity. There is such a high demand for our rescue work, it’s great to have their support and we hope that other companies follow in their footsteps.  Radio Plymouth has already provided us with some quality radio coverage and we look forward to working with them over the next year.”
