Ross Noble to Monkey Around at The Monkey Sanctuary
Comedian Ross Noble will visit Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary in Cornwall on Tuesday 11th June at 4pm, with the aim to monkey around as part of his next TV show.
The Geordie Stand-Up, Ross, is making a TV show based on suggestions of things to do via Twitter. He initially tweeted about looking for a monkey that could use a typewriter. Leading primate welfare charity Wild Futures got in touch to explain why using monkeys as entertainment in this way is not a good idea.
Ross was very receptive and quick to recognise that using a real monkey would not send out a good message, but working with Wild Futures in an appropriate way would be more beneficial. He then came up with the idea of using Twitter to encourage members of the public to turn up at The Monkey Sanctuary dressed as monkeys instead.
Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary will be allocating an empty enclosure at 4pm for members of the public dressed as monkeys to enter and use typewriters. Ross then hopes that the ‘monkey typists’ will type a message which will determine where he takes the cameras next!
Hayley Dann, Wild Futures stated: “We are very pleased that Ross Noble was quick to realise that using real monkeys in entertainment is not a good message for primate welfare. He promptly suggested the alternative, using human primates, which is great and we can’t wait to see how many people turn up!”
Members of the public wishing to appear in Ross’s TV show are encouraged to turn up before 4pm on Tuesday 11th June dressed as monkeys. Donations of typewriters are also welcome.
