Flying Monkeys Freefall for Funds!

Flying Monkeys Freefall for Funds!

On the 16th of February 2013, a team of daring individuals will don monkey suits and jump from heights of up to 15,000ft, to raise vital funds and awareness for South West based primate charity: Wild Futures.

Wild Futures are on the lookout for more thrill-seekers to join in the tandem skydive event, which will take place near Honiton at Dunkeswell Airfield; the base of Skydive UK. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of £395 in sponsorship, which will cover the cost of their jump, and also include their monkey suit for the day!

Charity Coordinator of Skydive UK, Louise Banks comments; “We’re thrilled Wild Futures are holding such an unusual event with us in February. We’ve seen many things here but never flying monkeys so we’re all quite looking forward to it! We have some very talented camera flyers here so will definitely be sending them up to capture some interesting footage on the day!”

The event is being sponsored by local company Yellowbird Media who has dared Sales Manager Hayley Patton to take the jump too!  Hayley states:  “I’m pleased to be jumping for Wild Futures as at Yellowbird Media we enjoy working with charities.  It is exciting to be taking part in this record breaking attempt!”

Wild Futures’ biggest project in the UK is The Monkey Sanctuary based near Looe, which is currently recovering from flood damage as well as the tragic loss of Pepper, a baby Capuchin who arrived at the Sanctuary in March 2012.

Katie Brydges, Events and Community Fundraiser at Wild Futures states: “We have had a difficult few weeks at Wild Futures following the destruction caused at our Monkey Sanctuary and are now trying to pick ourselves back up after the damaging effects of November’s storm. The money raised from The Flying Monkey Skydive will help us to fill the resultant financial gap and enable us to continue with the vital work of rescuing and rehoming more monkeys. This is a very important fundraiser for us and guaranteed to be great fun!”
