We need the help of you, our kind supporters, to help us urgently replace two vehicles at the Sanctuary which have broken down and are absolutely essential for our day to day operations!
The van
Our current Sanctuary van, a Citroen Berlingo, has served us faithfully for over a decade, rescuing over 20 monkeys from the cruelty of the UK pet primate trade but it has finally given up on us.
We are now left with no way of taking our biggest primates like Chico, weighing in at 17kg (total weight in his travel crate is a hefty 50kg!!), to the vets during an emergency, or for routine appointments and we must solve this urgent need with your help to be ready for anything.
Can you help us reach our fundraising goal? We have already raised £5,000 thanks to amazing trusts and corporates to be able to purchase a Citroen Berlingo (or similar) for £12,995. It is available now and we would like to purchase it as soon as possible to keep our busy team up and running.
Next up for vets appointments are Roccita, Sprout, Kiwi, Tom, Indie, and Elvis. As we rehabilitate primates from the traumas they have faced in the pet trade, visits to the vets will help investigate any abnormal behavioural or physical conditions such as weight loss, high heart rates, abscesses, to name a few. Can you help us keep things moving, and have our beloved friends checked out, with the help a new working van?
We know that we are in the middle of a cost of living crisis so any gift you can spare, big or small will help us reach our goal and be able to get back on the road, rescuing and rehabilitating primates in desperate need.
The Quadbike
When it rains it pours, and just as our van has given up on us, the tractor we use for all the heavy lifting at the Sanctuary has reached the end of its life too.
The team are struggling to do the heavy lifting and carting around of compost, pellets for our biomass boiler (this is how we keep the monkeys warm in the indoor parts of their enclosures all year round), woodchip for the base of the enclosures and shale for the paths around the Sanctuary, and this is getting too exhausting for them on top of caring for the monkeys.
We would love to buy this practical, electric (and so fumeless) and silent (so as not to frighten the primates) quad bike, or ‘Quaddie’ as Site Coordinator James calls it.
The Quad bike will help us move timber to repair and build enclosures, hand rails and steps around the site, on top of hauling trailer loads of heavy materials. Please help us fund this absolute essential for our busy working sanctuary.
A good quad these days is hard to find, but we have chosen one with 5 star reviews that we know won’t let us down. Our hilly site on the Cornish coast and all the weather that it throws at us, calls for a study, reliable, and powerful 4 wheel drive to pull heavy loads and allow the primate care teams to put down their wheelbarrows and go back to what they do best; caring for the monkeys. It is essential we buy the quad now so we can keep moving pellets to the biomass boiler to keep the monkeys warm this cold, wet April, and beyond!

We are hoping to raise £10,000 to help cover the costs of these vital vehicles. Please donate today to help us reach our goal.
Thank you ❤
