Mount Edgcumbe Proves a Prime Location for Monkey Business
Wild Futures, the charity that runs the Monkey Sanctuary in Looe, Cornwall, is excited to announce the opening of its new shop in the Barrow Centre at Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park.
At its new shop, you can expect all of the same great ethically and locally sourced products that you can get at the Monkey Sanctuary as well as discounted Monkey Sanctuary tickets.
Mount Edgcumbe is a beautiful location with a large footfall; it is hoped that having a second location it will create a greater awareness and income for the charity.
The Monkey Sanctuary is the flagship project of the charity Wild Futures, which this year is celebrating it 50th anniversary. The Sanctuary rescues monkeys from the pet trade, many who suffer from being kept as pets. It currently has 37 monkeys and when visiting the Sanctuary you can learn about these fascinating animals from the team of expert keepers.
The charity is asked on a regular basis to take in more monkeys but is nearing capacity at its existing site and so is therefore reviewing options to expand for the future. This largely depends on funding.
Retail Manager, Gemma Lawrence, states: “We are really excited to have been given the opportunity to open a shop at Mount Edgcumbe. I feel like it is such a great location and will really go a long way to helping create a greater awareness of the charity and ultimately income, so that we can continue to protect primates both here in the UK and overseas!”
To visit the shop, follow the A38 to Trerulefoot roundabout, then A374 and B3247 to Millbrook and Mount Edgcumbe. The Barrow Centre is located to the side of the House. Alternatively visit http://www.mountedgcumbe.gov.uk/.
