Mums Go FREE this Mother’s Day at Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary

Mums Go FREE this Mother’s Day at Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary

Mums are in for a special treat on Mother’s Day this year as they will be given free entry to Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary located just outside of Looe, Cornwall.

There will also be special discounts in the Sanctuary’s ethical gift shop, plus offers on tea and cakes at the Treetop Café!

Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.  The Sanctuary opened in 1964 and since then has cared for more than 160 monkeys.  It is the only Sanctuary in Europe to be accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) for its high standards of animal welfare and dedication to its campaign to end the primate pet trade.

The Sanctuary is currently home to 37 monkeys, many of whom suffer physically or psychologically following their time kept as pets.

Keepers are on hand all day giving talks to visitors providing them with a unique insight into the life at the Sanctuary and the stories behind each rescued monkey.

There is also a display room where films are shown, including a film with Stephen Fry.  Visitors can wonder around the beautiful wildlife gardens overlooking the blue Looe bay whilst children can hang around like monkeys in the play area.  There is an activity room, bat zone and lots more.

Many visitors are so taken with the work that the Sanctuary’s charity, Wild Futures, carries out that they adopt a monkey before they leave.

A monkey adoption can make a lovely gift for someone special and monkey adopters are all in good company as Wild Futures has many celebrity adopters including Michaela Strachan and Ross Noble.

Adopters receive a certificate of their monkey adoption, photos of their monkey, their monkey’s story, information on its species and regular communication on the work of Wild Futures.
