John Fowler Holiday Parks adopt Kiwi

John Fowler Holiday Parks have adopted Kiwi the capuchin monkey at The Monkey Sanctuary, in Looe Cornwall.

The Sanctuary is the flagship project of leading primate welfare charity, Wild Futures.  It rescues monkeys from the primate pet trade – a trade that has escalated over recent years.  It carries out much needed rescue and rehabilitation work with monkeys, many who are damaged either physically or psychologically due to their time kept as pets.  It offers a home for life to all the monkeys that reside there.

Kiwi arrived at the Sanctuary in 2010 and unlike many of the other monkeys at the Sanctuary she has been fortunate enough to live with her natural mother all her life. Kiwi is a small female, however she has a quick and feisty nature and since arriving at the Sanctuary her wild monkey behaviours have blossomed.

Hayley Dann, Head of Income Generation and PR at Wild Futures stated: “We are very grateful to John Fowler Holiday Parks in coming on board in this way by adopting one of our monkeys.  Without the generosity from our supporters, our vital work – protecting primates and habitats worldwide – would not be possible.  Our charity has seen a large increase in requests to take in more monkeys over the past few years, signifying an escalation in the primate pet trade.  Unfortunately all the monkeys we rescue suffer in some way following their time kept as pets and require a lot of specialist care.  We hope that more caring organisations come forward and adopt a monkey so we can continue to rescue monkeys in need.”

John Fowler Holiday Parks have a number of fantastic parks throughout the UK where you can enjoy the magical surroundings and all within easy reach.

Daniel Clarke, John Fowler Holiday Parks Ltd stated: “We are really excited about being involved with Wild Futures. They are such a great charity to be teamed up with and we can’t wait to work more with them in the future”.

Wild Futures has 36 monkeys on its adoption scheme, many with a sad story.  Supporters can adopt a monkey by visiting www.adoptamonkey.org or calling 0844 272 1271.
