Wild Futures Launches Wheelie Good Event: Wild Cycle!
Wild Futures, the charity which runs The Monkey Sanctuary near Looe, Cornwall has launched a really exciting new event: Wild Cycle. Wild Cycle is a 35 mile mixed terrain cycle ride across Bodmin Moor and will take place on Sunday March 17th 2013.
Starting and finishing at the Colliford Tavern at the Colliford Lake, the route will take participants across some of Cornwall’s most spectacular countryside. The event is a great challenge and cyclists will be rewarded with fantastic scenery, an abundance of wildlife and a great sense of achievement when they cross the finishing line!
Registration costs just £15 and all participants will receive a limited edition t-shirt, medal and food item at the finish line. Wild Futures then hopes that participants will raise some sponsorship for the charity on top.
The charity works tirelessly to rescue and protect primates and habitats worldwide. The Monkey Sanctuary is Wild Futures’ largest UK project to date and involves the rescue and rehabilitation of monkeys, mainly capuchins at present, due to their popularity as pets. Wild Futures receives no government funding and has reached a critical time recently with less than one month’s reserves to fund its work.
Events and Community Fundraiser, Katie Brydges stated: “It has been a really difficult few months for our charity, following the devastation caused by November’s storms. We hope that the recent fundraising events that we have launched including Wild Cycle will help raise vital funds to ensure that the good work that we do can continue. The Wild Cycle is an event not to be missed and we hope that lots of people take part!”
Participants can register online by downloading a registration form at www.wildfutures.org/events or over the phone by calling the Wild Futures fundraising office on 0844 272 1271.
